Mobile Range Safety System
Oceantronics was the prime contractor to PMRF for the Mobile Range
Safety System (MRSS) which provides extended over the horizon capability
for the range. It was manufactured at our facility and is capable of
operation as a stand alone Mobile Range Telemetry System or as a Mobile
Flight Termination System. Its hardware includes Multiple Telemetry
Tracking Systems, Multiple Dual Diversity Data Receivers, Real Time Data
Reduction and Recording, and a Flight Termination System. The
Communications subsystem includes; VSAT capable of real time data
transmission of up to 20 MBPS, two Inmarsat Systems for redundant voice
and data transmissions and HF, CB, VHF, and UHF Transceivers. The system
has its own power generation system, interface to existing power
sources, automatic power transfer switching and UPS power for the sub
systems.
The linked web pages include pictures of the shelter and the two mobile
12-ft. Tracking Antennas that make up the initial phase of the effort.
When completed the system will include the two tracking systems, a 2
side expandable 20 Ft. ISO shelter housing TM, Data Processing,
Recording, Range Safety Displays, FTS Control and Communication Panels.
A separate 20 Ft. ISO Shelter contains all of the communications
equipment and the FTS Transmitter. The two shelters are interconnected
using a 48 strand fiber optic cable.
Oceantronics an 8(a) Small Disadvantaged Business provided labor to
design, integrate, install, wire, and test this system. All of the
hardware and the Oceantronics efforts are performed using GSA
IT-Solutions orders placed against Oceantronics contracts.
